Project Description

This building was originally constructed as a dormitory for conductors and motormen of the Grand Rapids & Reeds Lake car line, which had its terminal nearby. From 1898-1902 it housed the Grand Rapids Medical College and from 1908 to c. 1916 the People’s Sanitarium and Hospital operated here.  Architect George Daverman expanded the building and converted it into twelve apartments in 1920. Project Rehab, a drug rehabilitation agency used the first floor as offices and the upper floors as dormitory-style housing for clients from 1984 to 2013,, when it was renovated into twelve apartments
